Lose It - Week 2

What a week I've had. I decided this week to incorporate exercise into my life in a natural way. Monday the boys and I went to pick up my daughter at her summer school program. I decided to walk to go get her, despite my older boy complaining the whole way. It's 15 minutes both ways, which amounts to at least 30 minutes of walking while pushing a stroller up some pretty steep hills while listening to whining. That's a good workout.

I knew this week that it was going to be hard to get exercise in. I was supposed to work late Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights. Even though I was supposed to work 11 hours on Wednesday, I was going to bring my gym clothes to work and hit the gym on the way home. My plans were all thwarted by a very bad case of

STREP THROAT!!!!

I hate strep throat.

It came on very suddenly. My brother and future sis-in-law were over at my house Tuesday night finishing up the invitation list for their wedding. They were over here until after 10:00 and it wasn't until after they left that my throat felt a little sore. By Wednesday morning I had woken up and my throat was burning and I could barely swallow. I hightailed it to the clinic and was immediately diagnosed with strep throat. I literally spent the entire day on my couch either asleep, moaning in pain, or going from fever chills to unbelievable sweats as my fever broke and came back. Not fun. Thursday I was only feeling slightly better. By Friday I was able to sit up-right. Saturday I had no choice but to try to feel better because my beautiful daughter was baptized. After the festivities, I spent the rest of the night on my couch sacked out. On Sunday I took probably 4 naps. Today I'm feeling a little better.

Despite not being able to work in more exercise than just walking to my daughter's school one day last week, I got on the scale this morning and

I lost 1 1/2 pounds!!!!

Woo-to-the-hoo.

This means Lose It is working for me. That's two consecutive weeks with weight loss. Now it might not seem like a lot of weight considering the regulars on the Biggest Loser drop 20 pounds in one week sometimes. But I set my goal on Lose It to lose one and a half pounds a week. So that weight loss to me means I'm doing it right, even if I didn't get to exercise.

This week I'll toddle my way back into exercising. I'm considering walking to pick up my daughter again today. Even if it is cold outside due to the tremendous amount of rain we got last night. And one thing that will aid me in this is, I got a new sports bra in the mail! Yes, I have to special order my sports bras.
